Panel SA: Without funds, Infrastructure becomes second tier in the dispute for positions

by

While PT members and members of Lula’s allied base compete for key ministries, such as Finance, Health, Education, Regional Development, among others abundantly supplied by the Budget, Infrastructure emerges as the least attractive place. Miriam Belchior, former president of Caixa Econômica Federal, is still the favorite. She already leads the transition team in the area. Senator Alexandre Silveira is also quoted.

The lack of appetite is due to meager resources for public investment in the sector, delegating a single path to the portfolio: stepping deep into the privatization program — something that the transition team has already stopped to “evaluate better”.

As Panel SA reported, the privatization of the port of Santos (SP), a deal that could move more than R$ 30 billion, and the concession of the last Infraero airports —Santos Dumont and Galeão (RJ)– went up on the roof waiting of the next government.

In the case of airports, the Secretariat of Civil Aviation has already suspended studies for modeling the concession at the request of the transition.
