The Visa card brand and Caixa Econômica Federal announced this Wednesday (7) a partnership that will allow the transfer of financial resources through WhatsApp.
The agreement allows Caixa customers, including those with other debit card brands, to make transfers between individuals using the bank’s virtual debit card.
The announcement comes weeks after the Central Bank granted preliminary approval for purchases via WhatsApp with Visa credit or debit cards, amid the plans of the messaging application controlled by Meta to launch a payment tool in Brazil.
Earlier this week, BC also granted preliminary regulatory authorization for Whatsapp purchases with Mastercard cards.
According to BC, the endorsement does not mean that the functionality will come into operation immediately. This is one of the steps for releasing the Facebook Pay program. Other regulatory requirements will still be necessary for the implementation of the function on WhatsApp.
