In spite of the president of Fiesp, most of the unions linked to the federation of industries in São Paulo, called an assembly to vote on the dismissal of Josué Gomes da Silva, who heads the institution.
The edict was published this Sunday (11) and makes insinuations that the leader practiced acts that were not foreseen in the entity’s statute and that, supposedly, are “incompatible with the interests of the affiliated unions and with the aspirations of the industrial categories represented”.
They accuse Josué of “eventual breach of the duty of diligence” and of having repeatedly refused to call the assembly —now scheduled by them based on one of the articles of the federation’s statute.
86 unions out of a total of 111 with voting rights at Fiesp sign the call notice.
This is yet another chapter in the dispute for power in one of the most important industrial entities in the country. The war had been heating up in recent weeks.
On November 16, Josué received a notification, with the request to convene the assembly to decide on his dismissal.
The unions claim that, on November 29, the president of Fiesp responded by saying that he would schedule it within 30 days – a deadline that would expire on December 20, with the obligation to publish the call notice by December 10.
However, interlocutors linked to Josué told Panel SA that Josué refused to call the meeting because there were flaws in the request. The decision was taken after an external legal opinion demonstrated that the request did not meet Fiesp’s statute clauses.
In the response, according to reports, Josué recommended that the request be made, which, according to interlocutors, has not yet occurred. The leader is on vacation and should return in early January, when he intends to analyze the matter.
They consider that the publication of the edict, without Josué’s knowledge, violates the statute.
The column heard from unions involved on condition of anonymity. According to them, behind the scenes of this fight, there is the attempt of the former president of Fiesp Paulo Skaf to take back the power of the institution.
Skaf left command to run for the Presidency of the Republic and, in his place, supported Josué —who was elected defeating another former Skaf ally.
However, Josué made a management that contradicted the 86 unions linked to Skaf. He stopped offering rooms at the federation’s headquarters, cars and other benefits that cost the federation’s cash.
Still according to reports, this base was always “well treated” by Skaf, guaranteeing, in exchange, support for him to have commanded the entity for about two decades after successive statutory changes. It is this group that, at the moment, is trying to seize power so that a new election can be called with Skaf as a candidate.
When consulted, Fiesp did not want to comment. The column reached out to Josué and Skaf directly. There was no response until the publication of this note.
