“Appodixi”: Up to a tenfold bonus to those who inform the AADE of fake receipts

by

The bonus will reach up to ten times the value of the “receipt” with a maximum limit of 1,500 to 2,000 euros

Scalable – depending on the value of the transaction – will be the monetary amount bonus that will be received by citizens who inform the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE) of the “fake” receipts they detect through the “Appodixi” application.

The bonus will even reach up to ten times the value of the “proof» with a maximum limit of 1,500 to 2,000 euros, as provided for by an order of the Ministry of Finance which will be submitted to the Parliament within days.

According to AADE data, from on September 20 since the measure was activated, 155,000 citizens have installed the “Appodixi” application on their mobile phones through which they “scan” receipts and check their validity.

Complaints about “suspicious” transactions have reached 73,834 of which 32,789 are named and 41,045 are anonymous. Most complaints concern receipts that have been issued by a declared cash register but had not yet been transmitted to the AADE electronic system.

The application “Appodix” has significantly helped AADE’s effort to limit tax evasion as it has led the auditing authorities to identify cases of concealment of turnover by professionals and businesses and to impose fines and lockouts for the issuance of receipts by “disturbed” mechanisms.

Audits also revealed other, new methods used by professionals to hide their real income.

Businesses were identified which, while they had normally issued receipts with the actual value for each transaction, subsequently, when transmitting the data to AADE, had declared a lower transaction value. That is, another amount was written on the receipt and another amount has been entered in the myDATA e-books.
