EFKA: The goal of 2023 is to “zero” overdue supplementary and one-off payments

by

At 97,000 pending applications that have exceeded three months since their issue

2022 closes for EFKA and the Ministry of Labor with a great success, that of zeroing the pending main pensions. Thus, in 2023, carrying the fulfillment of the great goal, they put a bow in the first half of the year for the nullification of the pending supplementary pensions and lump sums.

How much are the overdue supplementary pensions?

The stock of supplementary pensions that have become overdue, i.e. the waiting time for their issuance has exceeded three months, is just under 100,000 out of 97,000. Of these, 30% concern public pensions, while the remaining 70% are ancillary to the private sector.

The EFKA will move in the same direction for one-off applications, which are now reportedly at 8,500 from 18,000 last year. In fact, the new one-off must be issued within six months from the submission of the relevant application.

It should be noted that for the issuance of the supplementary pension, it applies as an inflexible rule that the main pension has previously been issued. Therefore, by zeroing out the applications of the main pensions, it is now easy to unblock the auxiliary pensions, as the greatest weight is currently given in this direction.

What steps have been taken?

A period of three months has already been established for the issuance of an auxiliary pension, which begins with the issuance of the main pension, as well as a period of six months for the one-off grant, starting from the date of submission of the relevant request.

If, despite this, the proposer has not issued the supplementary pension due to incomplete data within the time set by law, i.e. three months, then the supplementary pension is issued based on the data available in the system and the data provided by the citizen when submitting the application. The fast track procedure (“trust” pensions) is essentially activated. The verification of the data and declarations will be done, in these cases, after the pensions have been issued.

The whole process is also helped by the fact that applications for supplementary pensions can now be made digitally, through the e-EFKA electronic services. It is another measure, which contributes to the reduction by 4-6 months of the awarding time of the new adjuncts.
