Withdrawal of the PIS/Pasep allowance ends on December 29

by

Around 441,000 workers at public and private companies have until December 29 to withdraw the amount of PIS and Pasep for the months worked in 2020.

The amount adds up to R$ 387 million, according to data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. Of this total, R$108.3 million are from PIS and R$278.5 million from Pasep.

PIS and Pasep are two types of salary allowance, existing since 1970. The first is intended for workers in private companies, while the second, for workers in public or mixed companies.

Who can receive?

The allowance is granted to workers who:

  • have been enrolled in the program for at least 5 years

  • received an average of up to 2 minimum wages in the base year

  • have worked at least 30 days

  • have the data informed by their employers in Rais (Annual Social Information Report)

In March, after reviewing the registrations, 1.7 million workers were included in the bonus payment list in 2022, referring to the year 2020.

How much is the allowance?

The benefit depends on the number of months worked. Each month worked is equivalent to a credit of R$ 101, which can add up, at the end of a year, to the value of one minimum wage (R$ 1,212).

The amount of PIS can be consulted through the Caixa Trabalhador and Caixa Tem applications or by calling the citizen service number 0800-726-0207.

The Pasep can be consulted at the Banco do Brasil self-service terminals on the path Statements – Miscellaneous statements – Financial agenda; or internet banking on the way Current account – Miscellaneous statements – Financial diary. The query cannot yet be made by the bank application.

How to withdraw PIS?

PIS is paid by Caixa Econômica Federal. Anyone who is an account holder or saver at this bank receives the credit directly into their account and can transfer it through the application or internet banking to pay bills and make transfers. Withdrawals can be made using the account card at ATMs, lottery shops and Caixa Aqui correspondents.

Those who do not have a checking or savings account can transfer PIS through the digital account in the Caixa Tem app, where it is possible to make purchases using the virtual card, pay slips, transfers or PIX.

At Caixa Tem, workers can generate a withdrawal code using the “Withdrawal without a card” option available in the application. This code can be used to withdraw money at self-service terminals or lottery outlets.

Both the bank application and the Caixa Tem application can be downloaded from the Play Store for Android users or from the App Store for iPhone users.

Withdrawals can also be made at CAIXA branches, upon presentation of an official identification document.

How to withdraw Pasep?

Payment of Pasep is made by Banco do Brasil. Workers who have an account at this bank automatically receive the credit in their checking or savings account and can use it at self-service ATMs, on the bank’s website or in the application, which can be downloaded from the Play Store for Android users or from the App Store for iPhone users.

People who have a Pasep value to be received and who create a current or savings account at the bank in Brazil by December 29th will receive credit in the new account.

Workers who do not have a checking or savings account at Banco do Brasil can make the withdrawal upon presentation of an official document with a photo at one of the bank’s branches. Through the bank’s website, it is also possible to transfer the amount to accounts of other banks, provided that they are of the same ownership.

Open during year-end holidays

This year, the New Year holiday will fall on the weekend, when banks traditionally do not open, so the holidays will not change the opening hours of branches.

The 29th, the limit for withdrawing PIS and Pasep for the year 2020, will be a Thursday, the day when banks will operate normally.

What to do if you do not receive the allowance?

Employees who do not withdraw the salary allowance within the annual calendar can use the Alô Trabalhador channel, on telephone 158, to consult the right to receive it and how to withdraw it.

Workers who believe they are entitled to receive it, but who have not entered the payment list, can also use the Alô Trabalhador channel or file an appeal through a form on the government website. When ordering, you will need to provide:

  • CPF number

  • full name

  • email

  • telephone

  • state where you live

  • in the subject field, indicate the item “7 – RAIS/Salary Bonus”

  • in the message field, inform the reason for requesting the allowance
