Panel SA: Representatives of the business community see successes and reservations in Lula’s speech

by

Representatives of the business community saw successes in Lula’s speeches this Sunday (1st), but left reservations. The message that there is no mood for a rematch calmed concerns about the maintenance of the polarized climate.

Part of the president’s speeches bothered, such as criticism of the spending ceiling and the signaling of changes in the labor law, but it was not surprising. Privately, the assessment is that Lula could have made more forceful mention of the tax reform.

For Ricardo Roriz, president of Abiplast (plastic industry), it was good to see Lula reinforce the importance of encouraging reindustrialization and combating inequality.

“Reducing inequality means creating good quality jobs. Brazil cannot continue to be a commodity exporting country. It needs to add value to its products and services. He was right when he spoke of the need for unity without revanchism and he needs to disseminate the importance of this to your team,” said Roriz.

Nelson Mussolini, president of Sindusfarma, which represents the pharmaceutical industry, says that the sector expects predictability. “The pharmaceutical industry installed in Brazil, regardless of the origin of the capital, is certain that the Lula government will respect the contracts and bring predictability to the development of our industry in the country.”

For Sergio Mena Barreto, from Abrafarma, which brings together the large pharmaceutical retail chains, the main theme is knowing that Farmácia Popular will be retaken by the new government. “The program had been scrapped and lacked modern management instruments”, he says.

According to Barreto, Abrafarma carried out, with Insper, a study of the Aqui Tem Farmacia Popular program and presented the report to the transition team. “We hope to be able to discuss it soon with the team that will take over the Ministry of Health”, he says.

According to Rodrigo Sauaia, president of Absolar (solar energy association), the sector considers the new government’s indication of commitment to the energy transition and the neutralization of greenhouse gases in the energy matrix to be positive.

In the education sector, Celso Niskier, rector of UniCarioca and president of ABMES (association of higher education sponsors), praised the discourse of social inclusion and said that the sector wants to contribute to this agenda.
