In addition to the measures he has been taking to respond to Sunday’s attacks in Brasilia, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) should make a statement on national television with a message of peace and unity in the country. The opinion is the former governor of São Paulo João Doria.

“I would recommend President Lula to call a statement on national television and pass a message condemning acts that attack democracy and institutions, but make a sincere and expressive manifestation of peace and understanding in the country, directing this message to all Brazilians , those who voted for Lula and those who voted for Bolsonaro”, says Doria, when asked about the case.

In his speech after the start of depredations on Sunday, Lula referred to Bolsonaro as genocidal, blamed the former president and the parties that support him for encouraging coup acts.

The division of the country, an issue that afflicts the private sector, as demonstrated in the wave of repudiation released by business representatives since Sunday, will be discussed at the next Lide seminar, according to Doria, who invited names such as Luiza Trajano (Magalu), Abilio Diniz (Carrefour) and Luiz Carlos Trabuco (Bradesco) for the event, in Lisbon, on the 3rd and 4th of February.

Doria says that three ministers of the STF (Federal Supreme Court), Gilmar Mendes, Alexandre de Moraes and Ricardo Lewandowski are also expected at the event in the Portuguese capital, but the former governor says he finds it unlikely that the confusion of Bolsonarist protesters as occurred in the door of the last Lide forum with members of the court, in New York, last November.

On the occasion, there was the participation of Bolsonarist blogger Allan dos Santos, investigated in the fake news inquiry, who is on the run in the United States.
