Government of Alagoas strengthens security to stop Bolsonaristas invading the port of Maceió

The government of Alagoas reinforced policing around the port of Maceió after Bolsonarists organized themselves to try to invade the place this Wednesday (11).

The extremists planned to block access to the waterway terminal of Transpetro, a subsidiary of Petrobras, and the Vibra Energia distribution base to interrupt the supply of fuel in the state. However, no attempt to invade the port was registered.

In a note, the government of Alagoas reported that, despite being an area under federal jurisdiction, it had reinforced policing in the area and placed vehicles at the entrance to the port, in a preventive action. The Secretariat of Public Security monitors and says it is attentive to any unusual movement.

The possibility of attacks in Alagoas was alerted by the FUP (United Oil Workers Federation), which since last Sunday (8) has been monitoring the movement of extremist groups for possible attacks on refineries and terminals.

Faced with threats of attacks, the FUP activated federal security agencies, Petrobras’ intelligence and corporate security service and Senator Jean Paul Prates, appointed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to assume the presidency of Petrobras.

Petrobras reported that terminals and refineries are operating normally and that it monitors possible threats, adopting “necessary preventive protection measures as per standard procedure to ensure business continuity”.

The IBP (Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas), institutional representative of the main companies in the sector, reported that “it always works closely and cooperatively with the constituted authorities to guarantee the safety of essential facilities for the country’s fuel supply”.

The entity also said that it repudiates any act of violence and any actions that aim to bring instability to democratic principles. And he emphasizes that he trusts the performance of the public security forces in case of possible occurrences.

Possible attacks on refineries and terminals have been announced by Bolsonarists in recent days on social networks and would have the objective of interrupting the supply of fuel in the country. The movement of terrorists intensified in some states on Sunday night (8), after the attacks in Brasilia, and early Monday morning (9).
