Congress approved on Tuesday night (21) the Budget for the 2022 election year, with a forecast of BRL 1.7 billion to grant an increase to 45,000 federal police officers — a request by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to please one of your support groups.
This is another move by Bolsonaro to improve his chances in next year’s dispute. The president also dribbled the spending ceiling to pay for Auxílio Brasil, the new social program that replaces Bolsa Família.
The Budget also includes a record electoral fund: there will be BRL 5.7 billion for next year’s dispute, BRL 3 billion more than was spent in 2018.
In this Thursday’s (23rd) episode, Café da Manhã talks with the reporter from leaf in Brasília Fábio Pupo on how public money will be spent in the election year and how these choices impact the 2022 disputes.
