“We have a lot of work ahead of us. And we will do it, all together, in an atmosphere of national responsibility and seriousness,” stressed Christos Staikouras

“The European distinction in my person reflects the recognition and approval of the international community for the performance and progress of our country in the critical field of the economy” underlined the Minister of Finance Christos Staikouras speaking at the event organized in Lamia for his award as “Finance Minister of the Year 2023 for Europe”.

“This development is a distinction of our country and essentially reflects it the approval of the international community but also its recognition for the performance of our country and the progress it has presented in a field that has been difficult and repeatedly tested in recent years such as the field of the economy” emphasized Christos Staikouras speaking during the event and connected the specific award as a whole with the effectiveness of the government noting that “it is a reward for the sacrifices of the Greek people but also a confirmation of the hard effort of the government”.

Christos Staikouras emphasized that “this is an uninterrupted effort that started in July 2019 and continues”, while he spoke of “a serious systematic effort with a deep responsibility towards the present and the future of the country” as he said, to complete “it must to be proud of what, together, we have conquered, because we have conquered a lot. We must also be optimistic about what is to come. Because, realistically, Greece’s prospects are positive. But I want to tell you, emphatically, that we have no room for rest. We have a lot of work ahead of us. And we will do it, all together, in an atmosphere of national responsibility and seriousness, with the maximum possible political consultation and consensus, further forging social cohesion”.

“The distinction seals a difficult, but productive cycle” underlined Mr. Staikouras to add “it is, at the same time, a harbinger of even more successes for our country, even greater conquests for our people, even better prospects for our children, even more substantial and effective claims for our country” noted the Minister of Finance.

“My international distinction, as “Finance Minister of the Year for Europe” in 2023, is not only personal. It is mainly and primarily collective” said Christos Staikouras, adding that “it concerns Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the entire Government. It concerns the state, citizens and businesses, the political and service pyramid of the Ministry of Finance. It concerns my colleagues, the majority of whom come from Fthiotida – and some of them from Ambliani. Valuable partners who, over the last four years, have highlighted their roots, principles and knowledge with their ethics and hard work. It concerns you, who honor me, without interruption, with your trust and vote. You who share common dreams, common anxieties, common goals, common concerns, common values, common ideals. Values and ideals taken from the “guts” of our country”.
