Deputy Luiz Carlos Motta, president of CNTC (confederation of trade workers), says that the fate of employees in the Americanas case is still unclear for labor representatives, which is why, in a meeting this week, the entity decided to file a request for mediation at the TST (Superior Labor Court).
“We have a request for pre-procedural mediation to bring together the workers’ entity, the employer entity CNC and the company’s management. We had meetings, but it is still not clear. We need to gather more data to understand what will happen”, says Motta.
At the beginning of the month, the company told representatives of trade unions that it will not promote mass layoffs or store closures until March.
With more than 40,000 employees, the company, which went into judicial recovery last month, already has more than 15,000 labor claims, which together represent a debt of more than R$ 1.5 billion, according to eight unions representing traders, who filed a public civil action last month asking for the blocking of the value in the personal account of the trio of billionaire shareholders.
