“From the beginning of June, citizens will be able to apply for a subsidy in order for their apartment building to become “smart”, said the Minister of Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis in his interview with the newspaper “Eleftheros Typos tis Kyriaki”.

In particular, he stated that “is the Smart Readiness program, which will upgrade our country’s telecommunications, environmental – and not only – and from which millions of citizens will be able to benefit. This is a subsidy for the upgrade of existing apartment buildings that do not have optical fiber cabling inside the building».

As he underlined “with the installation that we subsidize through the program, each building will be able to prepare for the future installation of utility grid smart meters, such as those for electricity and natural gas. But not only. The buildings will have an infrastructure for the installation and communication of appropriate sensors related to security, the control of good operation and the taking of measurements related to the environmental footprint of the main communal facilities of the buildings (central heating boiler room and elevator) and of course for high internet speeds. Naturally, this upgrade contributes to the overall development of economic activity and environmental management throughout the country».

The minister pointed out that “all the New Democracy candidates are focused on a single challenge: to make New Democracy an independent government and Kyriakos Mitsotakis a strong prime minister.

Through my candidacy for the A’ of Athens, therefore, I claim the vote of my fellow citizens so that the country continues to be oriented towards the future. All the rest – roles and missions – will be a decision of the prime minister and we will discuss them in due time, after, that is, the verdict of the citizens. And I am sure that Kyriakos Mitsotakis will be the one that the citizens will choose as the most suitable to make the right choices for the next four years».

He even emphasized that “elections are a process of comparison with the horizon of the future and not in the field of yesterday. The dilemma of the election is essentially whether we will continue to move forward or whether we will be trapped in the symbols and debates of yesterday. And the citizens know and see that it is the New Democracy and personally Kyriakos Mitsotakis who politicizes in terms of the future. That is why I believe they will renew the strong mandate they gave us in 2019, so that we can continue as our motto says: steady, bold and forward».
