Latam cancels flights after a rise in Covid and influenza cases; see list

by

Latam announced this Sunday (9) that it canceled about 1% of its domestic and international flights — 49 so far — scheduled for the month of January. The cause is the increase in cases of Covid-19 and influenza across the country.

According to a statement, customers who had their flight changed can reschedule the trip without a fine and fare difference or request a refund of the ticket, also without a fine. To check the flight status, just click here.

The increase in cases is affecting the air transport landscape. On Friday (7), Azul Linhas Aéreas had already announced that the percentage of canceled flights has doubled since Thursday (6). In a statement, the company said that 10% of the total flights were reached, which is equivalent to 90 daily flights.

LATAM passengers who are diagnosed with Covid-19 can reschedule the flight date once without a fine, but paying the fare difference, if any. The customer will be able to travel from 14 days after the diagnosis of the disease or certifying that it is no longer in the contagion phase.

Due to the increase in infected, Gol issued a note, on Thursday (6), stating that there was an increase in cases in the staff, but that no flight had been canceled or changed. However, he claims to be alert.

Gol also says that 100% of its employees are immunized and that “only with the population widely immunized will it be possible to overcome this challenge that the pandemic presents”.
