Mr. Tsakloglou, after stating that the effect of the circular on the current pensioners was misinterpreted, characterized as “inexpensive, untrue and deeply populist” the claim that there is a drastic reduction in widowhood and invalidity pensions.
The circular, as Mr. Tsakloglou pointed out, aims to remove bad practices that create social and economic inequalities and concerns only those insured who retire in the second pension from January 1, 2022 onwards, with the aim of a smooth and long-term implementation of the law on the accumulation of more than one national pension in excess of the amount of the full national pension. It has, therefore, no retroactive effect and therefore there will be no cuts in the existing pensions, according to the Deputy Minister of Labor.
According to the deputies of the Movement for Change, the circular creates two-speed retirees. They even called on the government to withdraw it as well as to proceed immediately to a dialogue in the Social Affairs Committee of the Parliament.
