Panel SA: Former Mappin employees receive more than R$ 2 million this week, says union

by

More than 20 years after Mappin’s bankruptcy, the Commerce Workers’ Union this week accounts for around R$2.3 million in compensation to 58 labor creditors.

Approximately R$ 1.2 million of the amount corresponds to just one former employee of the retailer, according to the union.

Marcello D’Aguiar, a lawyer for the union, says that some workers are missing. This requires power of attorney update. “There are still people who have changed their address and we are still looking for them to receive it, but the vast majority have already received it”, he says.
