905,444 people were registered as unemployed in the register of the Public Employment Service (PYPA) in July 2023, recording a decrease of -43,486 people (-4.6%) compared to the corresponding month of the previous year – July 2022 – and an increase of 38,995 people (4.5%) compared to the previous month of June 2023.

According to the DYPA registered unemployment statistics, of the 905,444 unemployed, 503,272 people (55.6%) are registered in the DYPA register for a period equal to or more than 12 months and 402,172 people (44.4%) are registered in the DYPA register for a period of less than 12 months.

Men amounted to 291,217 people (32.2% rate) and women amounted to 614,227 people (67.8% rate).

The 30-44 age group gathered the largest number of registrants among the age groups, amounting to 308,948 people (34.1% rate). The educational level of secondary education, which includes post-secondary education, gathered the largest number of enrollments among the educational levels, which amounted to 403,378 people (44.6% rate).

Among the Regions of the country, the Region of Attica and the Region of Central Macedonia recorded the largest number of registered unemployed, which amounted respectively to 328,061 people (36.2% rate) and 180,566 people (19.9% ​​rate).

The total number of subsidized unemployed (the number of beneficiaries paid within the corresponding month) amounted in July 2023 to 127,135 people, of which 118,983 (93.6%) are general unemployed and other categories of subsidized unemployed and 8,152 ( rate of 6.4%) are seasonal tourist professions.

Specifically, the number of subsidized unemployed persons in July 2023 amounted to 127,135 people, showing a decrease of 16,232 people (-11.3%) compared to the corresponding month of the previous year – July 2022 – and an increase of 18,837 people (17 .4%) compared to the previous month of June 2023.

Males numbered 44,713 (35.2% rate) and females numbered 82,422 (64.8% rate).

Of the total number of subsidized unemployed, 94,608 (74.4% rate) are common, 1,761 (1.4% rate) are builders, 8,152 (6.4% rate) are seasonal tourist occupations, 1,209 (1.0% rate) are seasonal other (agricultural), 21,310 (16.8% rate) are educational and 95 (0.1% rate) are other.
