There was an increase in the total number of returns submitted on time by Greek taxpayers until August 31st compared to the previous year.

According to the Ministry of Finance, this year (until August 31, 2023) they were submitted 6,481,302 initial declarations of natural persons, compared to 6,399,973 last year, at the expiration of the deadline for timely declarations (30/08/2022), an element that confirms the broader positive trend towards tax compliance. That is, it is about 82,000 more tax returns from natural persons and 38,000 more declarations from legal entities than last year (120,000 in total).

Also, 322,169 initial declarations of legal entities have been submitted, compared to 284,165 declarations, at the expiration of the deadline for submitting timely declarations (30/8/2022).

It is also pointed out that the digital application of the AADE, especially for the electronic submission of income tax returns 6,885,595 taxpayers were visited.

New deadline for submitting tax returns until Monday

The Ministry of National Economy and Finance and AADE also announced that, in order to facilitate them legal and natural persons who may have encountered a problem in submitting declarations in the last hours of submission due to system overload, are given the opportunity to submit these declarations until on Monday 4 September 2023, without any charge.

The same applies to natural and legal persons who will submit an amended income tax return for the tax year 2022.
