An increase of 13.7% in volume and 21.5% in value was recorded by the exports of fresh fruits and vegetables in volume in the eight months of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, according to the latest data from ELSTAT, which was processed by the Association of Hellenic Enterprises Export, Distribution of Fruits, Vegetables and Juices INCOFRUIT-HELLAS.

Vegetable shipments in the eight months of 2023 increased by 29.5% compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 222,616 tons and 39.6% in value, to 202.96 million euros.

Accordingly, the export of fruit showed an increase in volume compared to the same period of 2022 by 10.8%, reaching 1,031,425 tons, while the value increased by 18.3% and reached 928.01 million euros.

“Since January, there has been a continuous recovery in the flow of our exports, with the Greek export trade taking advantage of the reduced production of competing countries to regain the lost share in the markets,” the Association’s Special Advisor told APE-MPEGeorge Polychronakis.

Specifically:

– January 24% increase in volume and 25.7% in value with an average price of +1.4% compared to the corresponding month of 2022

– February 34.9% in volume and 31.9% in value with the weighted average price -2.2%

– March 61.8% in volume and 54% in value with the weighted average price -4.8%

– April 23.2% in volume and 12.5% ​​in value with the weighted average price. – 8.7%

– May -2.8% in volume and 5.3% in value with the weighted average price +8.3%

– June -3.6% in volume and +23.8% in value with the weighted average price jumping +28.4%

– July -10% in volume and + 10.5% in value with the average price + 22.8% &

– August -0.9% in volume and +4.6% in value with the average price being +5.6%.

The biggest change was observed in potato exports, where in the 8th month of 2023 shipments amounted to 47,855 tons in volume and 22,034,862 euros in value, compared to 28,010 tons and 10,833,415 euros in the same period of 2022, a rate of 103.4% and 70.8% respectively.

Oranges follow with exportable quantities of 261,470 tons and 155,039,210 euros in value, compared to 178,181 tons and 86,111,322 euros in the first eight months of 2022 (an increase of 80% and 46.7% respectively).

Finally, the first “triad” in exports is completed by tangerines. In the 8th month of 2023, according to the same data, mandarin shipments amounted to 54,426 tons and 37,883,456 euros in value, compared to 35,673 tons and 21,369,064 euros in value (77.3% and 52.6% respectively).
