Records new record Annual inflation in the euro area at 5.1% in January 2022, from 5% in December, according to the first Eurostat estimate, released today, Wednesday. The explosion of inflation is fueled by the rally in energy and increases in food.
The main components of inflation in the euro area for January are, according to Eurostat, energy (28.6%, compared to 25.9% in December), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (3.6%, compared to 3.2% in December), services (2.4%, stable compared to December) and non-energy industrial goods (2.3%, compared to 2.9% in December).
In Greece, harmonized inflation is expected in January to 5.5% from 4.4% in December 2021.
The lowest inflation in the euro area is recorded in France (3.3%) and in Finland and Portugal (3.4%).
The highest annual inflation rates were recorded in January in Lithuania (12.2%), Estonia (11.7%) and Slovakia and Belgium (8.5%).
In December the annual measurement was 5%, with explosive increase of energy index by 28.6% and food intake to increase by 3.6%
