Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) received at least 28 registration requests for self-tests for Covid-19, according to information from the panel that monitors the entry of new requests, updated this Thursday morning (3).
The data is presented 24 hours late, says the regulatory agency — and therefore the number could be higher.
Among the suppliers are the importer MedLevensohn, Abbott Diagnósticos and the test manufacturer Eco Diagnóstica. Some companies have applied for more than one test model.
The first endorsement was requested on Monday (31) by the Brazilian company Okay Technology Comércio do Brasil, for an imported self-test that uses nasal collection to obtain the result. The product has already been analyzed by Anvisa and is awaiting publication in the Federal Official Gazette.
Another 4 are under analysis and 23 have already been distributed among the responsible areas.
When the agency authorized the use of self-tests in Brazil, last Friday (28), suppliers have already started to move to take their products to the shelves. The expectation of the companies is to make the merchandise available in pharmacies within a few weeks, but the time depends on the registration process at Anvisa, a necessary step for commercialization.
