Significant increase in is recorded in the passenger traffic at all of the country’s airports both for this year’s October and for the ten months of 2023, in relation to the corresponding period of 2022 and 2019.

According to the statistics of the Civil Aviation Service for all airports (Athens “Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport, 24 airports managed by CAA, 14 regional airports managed by Fraport Greece), it appears that this year’s October recorded an increase in passenger traffic by 12.2% compared to 2022 and by 22.9% compared to 2019as in 2023 6,943,073 were transported, in 2022 6,189,945 were transported and in 2019 5,650,541 passengers were transported.

For the 10th month of the year 2023 in Greece (January/October 2023) the total number of passengers in the airports (arrivals and departures of foreign and domestic passengers) reached 66,844,615, compared to 58,860,315 in the corresponding period of 2022 and 59,069. 514 passengers in 2019. From the above statistics, there is a 13.6% increase in passenger traffic compared to 2022 and a 13.2% increase compared to 2019.

Also, from the analysis and comparison of all the data, it follows that 10M 2023 passenger traffic exceeded 12M 2022 by 5%as in this year’s 10 months 66,844,615 passengers were handled at the airports, while last year in the whole of 2022 (12 months ́22) 63,672,121 passengers were handled.

Flights

Regarding flight statistics (domestic and international aircraft arrivals and departures) October 2023 52,329 flights were carried out, compared to 51,795 in 2022 and 45,552 flights in 2019, with air traffic increasing by 1% compared to 2022 and up 14.9% compared to 2019.

Flight statistics for the 10th month of 2023 (Jan/Oct 2023) show that there were 512,278 flights in 2023, compared to 505,074 in 2022 and 478,872 flights in 2019, with 10m 2023 air traffic up 1.4% compared to by 2022 and a 7% increase compared to 2019.
