Competent non-parliamentary bodies submitted their opinions to the committee and the majority acknowledged that the bill is in the right direction
The bill “Transparency, competition, protection of the vulnerable – Incorporation of the European Directive, re-introduction of the Hercules Program and other urgent provisions” was voted by majority on its principle, by the Finance Committee of the Parliament.
The bill was upvoted only by ND MPs, while all the Opposition parties said they were voting against it in principle.
The opinions of competent extra-parliamentary bodies that had been invited to the Committee were preceded, and the majority of them acknowledged that the bill is in the right direction, it is taking positive steps, proposing at the same time further improvement changes mainly concerning:
– transparency in the operation of management companies and their obligation to inform borrowers,
– the expansion of the inclusion of borrowers in the regulation for the protection of their first residence and
– the establishment of beneficial criteria for vulnerable debtors so that they are not excluded from the regulation.
