It was limited to single-digit percentages unemployment in our country in October, as it reached 9.6% compared to 11.8% in October 2022 and the revised upward 10.3% in September 2023. The unemployed amounted to 453,783 people, marking a decrease of 98,636 people compared to October 2022 (17.9%) and by 28,316 people compared to September 2023 (5.9%).

The unemployment rate for women rose to 12.1% (from 16.1% in October last year) and for men to 7.6% (from 8.5%).

By large age groups, in the 15-24 year old group the unemployment rate rose to 23.7% (from 28.2% in October 2022) and in the 25-74 year old age group to 8.7% (from 11%).

Also according to the ELSTAT labor force survey, the employed amounted to 4,257,939 people, an increase of 145,353 peoplebut compared to October 2022 (3.5%) and by 55,348 people compared to September 2023 (1.3%).

People under the age of 75 who are not in the labor force, or “people outside the labor force” (people who are neither working nor looking for work); amounted to 3,080,603 people, marking a decrease by 75,123 people compared to October 2022 (2.4%) and by 22,797 people compared to September 2023 (0.7%).
