BC unveils new website to consult forgotten money in banks

by

The consultation of citizens and companies for money forgotten in bank accounts will work again next Monday (14), now on an exclusive website.

The announcement was made by the Central Bank on Monday (7). Access can be made through the address valorareceber.bcb.gov.br.

The new channel dedicated to SVR (Values Receivable System) aims to expand its service capacity.

The tool had been suspended on January 25, the day after the announcement of the existence of R$ 8 billion forgotten. The number of hits destabilized the BC website, which hosted the tool.

According to the municipality, on launch day (January 24), the number of hits to the site was 20 times higher than on a high-volume day — or 50 times higher than on a normal day.

The entire relationship with citizens will take place through this new channel. It will not be possible to consult or request amounts deposited in the SVR on the BC main website or by the Registrar, a system also used to consult personal financial information such as loans and financing contracted, returned checks and list of registered Pix keys.

On the exclusive website for consultation, there will be a step-by-step guide for the rescue of forgotten money.

Before the suspension, 79,000 citizens and businesses were able to consult the SVR and 8,500 return requests were formalized. This represents about R$ 900 thousand already recovered.

In a first phase of withdrawals, the BC estimates the return of R$ 3.9 billion to 27.9 million CPFs (individuals’ registrations) and CNPJs (national legal entities’ registrations).

At this stage, holders of closed checking or savings accounts with available balance will be entitled to recover the forgotten money.

Fees and installments or obligations relating to credit operations improperly charged will also be refunded, provided that the refund is provided for in a term of commitment signed by the bank with the BC.

In addition, shares of capital and apportionment of net surpluses of beneficiaries and participants of credit unions and unsought resources related to closed consortium groups may also be recovered.

There will be a second phase of rescuing forgotten values. Its implementation date will be evaluated after the start of the first stage.

In the next transfer cycles, fees and installments or obligations related to improperly charged credit operations, provided for or not in the Commitment Agreement with the BC, will be returned; amounts deposited in prepaid and postpaid payment accounts closed with available balance; funds in registration accounts maintained by brokers and securities dealers closed with available balance; and, finally, other situations that imply amounts to be returned recognized by the institutions.

According to the BC, the citizen who makes a query on the new website, as of February 14, and identifies that he has some amount to be received will be immediately informed of the date on which he will be able to learn about the forgotten amount and request the transfer to his account.

These orders can be scheduled from March 7, on a date automatically generated by the system.

“The BC recommends that citizens return to the website valorareceber.bcb.gov.br on the informed date. If they do not appear on that date, the citizen will have to make a new appointment to receive a new date to ask for the redemption”, said the monetary authority. , in note.

Also according to the BC, anyone who misses the date for any reason need not worry. “The citizen never loses the right to the values in his name. Financial institutions will keep these resources for as long as necessary, waiting until the citizen requests the return.”

In addition to changing the access address, BC also changed the form of login. With the new website, the consultation will require that the interested party has a registration on the gov.br platform with the so-called silver or gold security levels.

The silver level requires the user to have validated their data via internet banking from an accredited bank, registration of facial biometrics for photo conference in the bases of the CNH (National Driver’s License) or via the login data of the Sigepe system, if it is a server federal public.

The gold level, in turn, requires the user to have performed facial validation through the gov.br application to check the photo in the Electoral Justice bases or to validate their data with a digital certificate compatible with ICP-Brasil.

The BC also alerted citizens to the risk of scams using the SVR. In a note, the monetary authority reinforced that it does not send links and does not contact citizens to deal with amounts receivable or to confirm personal data.

The municipality also highlighted that no type of payment should be made to gain access to forgotten values and that no one is authorized to contact the citizen on behalf of the Central Bank or the Values Receivable System.

“Only after the citizen has accessed the system (or if he has already accessed it on the 24th and 25th of January) and only in the case of asking for the redemption without indicating a Pix key, the financial institution that the citizen has chosen will contact him to carry out transfer,” he said.
