The suspension of street Carnival parties and the postponement of the parades in São Paulo and Rio should contribute to the holding of two private party carnivals. The estimate is from Ingresse, which sells tickets for private entertainment events.
Bruno Sapienza, company executive, says that many promoters decided to keep their schedules on the February holiday, but the sector will also bet on a double on the new date, in April.
For now, the sale of tickets for Carnival in the original calendar is skating. The uncertainty about the direction of the pandemic should leave the decision to buy tickets closer to the event.
“With Carnival at the end of the month, sales should be more heated. The public is still a little afraid of what it will be like this year”, says Sapienza.
Despite the uncertain scenario, the hotel chain is also optimistic about the two dates of Carnival this year.
In Rio de Janeiro, the sector expects to register 85% occupancy on the holiday in February and will bet on its traditional internal dances to attract customers, according to Paulo Michel, president of Abih (Brazilian Association of the Hotel Industry) in the state.
For the samba school parades in April, hotels expect a greater number of Brazilian tourists. “It is the domestic market that will supply the demand. International tourists are also coming, they have not canceled their reservations, but they take advantage of the summer season. April is already different. It will be a national audience”, he says.
