Former President of the Council of State Irene-Evelyn-Michaela-Mary Sharp is set to take over as the current chair of the Independent Authority
The leadership of the Competition Commission is changing, as from next January, the position of the current president of the Independent Authority, Ioannis Lianou, is intended to be taken over by the former president of the Council of State, Irene-Evelyn-Mikela-Mary Sharp.
Mrs. Sharp, tomorrow, December 7, has been summoned to appear for a hearing at Institutions and Transparency Committee of the Parliamentin order to assume her duties from the new year, when Mr. Lianos’ term of office ends.
In the meantime, today Mr. Lianos in a post on social media says: “Last meeting of the Bureau of the OECD Competition Committee this week in which I represent Greece. I am moving to new “pastures” as I have already accepted from April 2023 a competition enforcement position in another jurisdiction (announcements on this soon).
It has been a wonderful experience to work with excellent colleagues from other OECD Member States to promote active competition law enforcement and I am honored to be the first Greek to join the Bureau of the OECD Competition Committee.”
