The government’s priorities aimed at strengthening transport connectivity and infrastructure resilience were presented today by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Christos Staikouras, at the annual Capital Link Investment Conference for Greece, entitled “25th Annual Capital Link Invest in Greece Forum”, which takes place in New York.

During his presentation, Mr. Staikouras referred to the progress of the Greek economy despite external challenges, highlighting the decisive role of the infrastructure and transport sector in strengthening the regional geopolitical role of the country, as well as in its economic growth.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport presented the timetable for the implementation of the ongoing projects and the sources of funding that the government uses for this purpose, but also for the restoration of the damages caused by the widespread natural disasters.

Mr. Staikouras analyzed the Greek railway restructuring program through administrative restructuring and the support of new projects within the framework of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-M), while he described the initiatives to promote “green” transport through the Sustainable Urban Plans of mobility (SBAK) of electrification and the renewal of the urban transport fleet.

Regarding the resilience of infrastructure, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport developed the benefits of the creation of the Bridge Register and the introduction of modeling technology, which systematizes all the information in the life cycle of a project.
