One million taxpayers they won’t even have to file a tax return this year. AADE will do it for them!
Filing your tax return is a headache every year for many taxpayers. Not only for those who have complex tax returns with many items and need the help of accountants but even for those whose things are very simple but don’t even want to go through the “painful” process.
The head of AADE, Giorgos Pitsilis is already in advanced discussions with the Ministry of Finance so that taxpayers who in 2023 had incomes only from wages and pensions and no change in their family or property situation, can see their tax return pre-filled based of course on the data available to the AADE . Entering their share in Taxis, they will see that the codes of income (salaries, pensions), property (homes, etc.) any loans, expenses through receipts, interest on deposits and of course their personal information will already be filled in and they will just need to check them and if they agree to hit submit.
Immediately the statement will be cleared and any tax will be confirmed. Even if they don’t even want to press the button but leave the information that AADE has put in unchanged, on the last day of submitting tax returns, the system will consider the return submitted as it is. And so these 1 million employees and pensioners will not even need the help of the accountants – who also benefit as their workload is already heavy – and will save a lot of time.
If the taxpayer finds inconsistencies, he can make corrections in the pre-filled fields. Corrections can be made with an amending declaration and between the submission of the declaration and the payment of the first installment.
Based on what we know about the planning of the Ministry of Finance, the platform for submitting tax returns should be expected at the end of March. By then, the relevant legislation will have been passed for the automatic pre-filling and submission of the required tax returns for employees and pensioners. And that’s how the annual merry-go-round of extensions will come to an end.
No change is foreseen in the payment schedule for those who receive the….sad. 8 equal monthly installments starting from the end of July until February 28, 2025. The one-time payment until the end of July will also entail a 3% discount.
