Panel SA: Unionists meet with the new president of Fiesp after Skaf’s departure

by

The new president of Fiesp, Josué Gomes da Silva, who since taking office, in January, has been signaling marked differences in relation to his predecessor Paulo Skaf, received union leaders at the entity’s headquarters last week.

Miguel Torres, president of Força Sindical, and Sergio Nobre, of CUT, left the meeting with praise for Josué and a speech of hope in the dialogue. Torres says that for a long time the centrals were not received personally by the Fiesp presidency.

“Before the Bolsonaro government, Skaf was still talking. Then, he closed the doors. Now there is a reopening for dialogue on joint agendas. Josué talked about topics such as training and decarbonization. For us, training and strengthening the industry are important points to increase the salary base”, says Torres.

Nobre described the meeting as great. “The fact that Josué took over and, at the beginning of his administration, had a conversation with the main unions is very symbolic. With the level of problems we are experiencing in Brazil, needing to reindustrialize the country and generate quality jobs, it is important to point out ways to grow again. Fiesp is a very important interlocutor. This is hope”, he says.
