The financial volume generated by agriculture within the gate will rise again this year, and could reach R$ 1.2 trillion, 4.3% above the record of 2021.
It is the fourth consecutive year of positive evolution of the GVP (Gross Value of Agricultural Production), according to estimates by the Ministry of Agriculture.
This movement is caused by several segments of the sector, but, this year, the result will be very different for the income of the producer.
Luciano Vacari, director of the consultancy NeoAgro, says that the billing is large, but the income, small. The sector is generating a record volume of money, due to the increase in commodity prices, but the result in the pockets of producers will be very different from previous years, due to the increase in costs.
Income will even be distributed very unevenly. States in the Midwest, where production was normal, will benefit from the current high commodity prices, while those in the South will lose share.
This is what data from the Ministry of Agriculture show. The South region, which had 28.2% of the GVP in 2021, behind only the leader in the Midwest, retreats to third position in 2022.
Due to drought and heat, which caused crop failure, the South will participate with only 25% of the total value of national production this year, considering the 17 main agricultural products and livestock. This encompasses cattle, swine, poultry and milk and egg production.
With the crop failure in the South, the states of Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul give way to São Paulo and Minas Gerais in the list of the biggest generators of resources in agriculture, according to government estimates.
Farsul data, referring to Rio Grande do Sul, one of the states most affected by the drought, indicate that production costs rose 51% last year in the state. Prices received by producers were up 5%.
Vacari estimates that farmers’ losses are likely to be even greater than those of ranchers. The use of fertilizers, the input that has increased the most in recent months, is higher in crops than in pastures, although these should also have been fertilized, he says.
This year’s highlights, in percentage growth, will be coffee (64%), cotton (35%), sugarcane (32%) and corn (22%). Soybeans, which should have a 4% drop in production value, compared to 2021, will maintain the leadership in the volume of money generated. It will be R$ 360 billion.
Inflation Agricultural products rose 3.5% in the last 30 days ending on February 10, according to the FGV’s IGP-10. As a result, the 12-month rate reaches 18.4%.
pressures The highest wholesale increases among agricultural products were for soybean meal (9.6%), corn (9.2%) and soybeans (7.3%), according to FGV. The average monthly inflation index increased by 1.98% in the period.
Any less ethanol Plants in the center-south sold 32% less ethanol last month than in January 2021. The volume dropped to 1.76 billion liters.
less ethanol two The data are from Unica (Union of the Sugarcane Industry), which recorded a 44% decline in hydrous ethanol sales. There were only 919 million liters in the month.
In fall The liter of hydrated alcohol retreated to R$ 2.97 in Paulínia (SP), with a drop of 5% in the month. At the beginning of the year, it was traded at R$3.42, according to Cepea (Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics).
