Projects with a budget of 900 million euros for the restoration of the road network in the affected areas of Thessaly and Central Greece will be auctioned in the summer, as stated by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, responsible for Infrastructures, Nikos Tachiaosduring his tour of the regional unit of Karditsa.
As Nikos Tachiaos pointed out, the goal of the Ministry is for the tender documents to be completed by the end of June and for the contracts to be signed with the contractors for the works by the summer. “We are here to prioritize projects according to the needs of local communities,” he noted.
In particular, with regard to the projects of the Prefecture of Karditsa, Nikos Tachiaos pointed out that they will absorb a significant part of the total budget, which amounts to 900 million euros for the regional units of Thessaly. Particular emphasis will be placed on mountainous Karditsa, which has suffered the greatest damage.
During his tour, Nikos Tachiaos, accompanied by a team of engineering colleagues from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, visited the affected villages and met with the Mayors of Mouzaki, Theofani Stathis, Palamas, Sokratis Daskalopoulos and Sofadon, Demosthenes Katsis and other representatives of the Local Government. He discussed with them the projects that are to be included in the final list of restorations of the infrastructures damaged by the “Daniel” and “Elias” phenomena, but also in general the problems of the region, which has suffered the greatest damage to private properties.
As part of his visits to the affected areas, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure will travel to Fthiotida and Northern Evia in the coming days, where he will meet with the competent bodies of the Local Government.
