As evidence that the Greek economy is moving in the right direction, he characterizes the significant improvement that Greece shows in its business environment index Economist the Minister of National Economy and Finance, Kostis Hatzidakis.

Specifically, as Mr. Hatzidakis points out in his statement: “Greece has achieved the greatest improvement in the score of the business environment index, compiled by the Economist, according to the relevant research published today. This development is another proof that our economy is moving in the right direction. The universe has not conspired in the government’s favor so that the Economist, known for its validity, says that Greece has achieved this feat, following a series of other positive assessments.

It is also a response to those who insist on catastrophizing and nullifying efforts. The government has never denied that reform action must continue at many different levels. After all, that’s what we do. The constant catastrophizing does injustice to the Greek people, their efforts and sacrifices.

The Economist’s index measures the attractiveness of the business environment in 82 countries, based on 91 variables divided into 11 different categories (political environment, macroeconomic environment, business opportunities, free market and competition policy, foreign investment policy, foreign trade, taxes, finance, labor market, infrastructure and technological readiness).

As stated in the report: “Greece achieved the greatest improvement in the business environment during this period. This reflects the impact of a pro-business government, led by the New Democracy party, now in its second term, which has introduced reforms, cut taxes and boosted business confidence.”

All this is not only a success of the government. It is a great success of Greece!”, concludes the statement of Mr. Hatzidakis.
