Tomorrow, Wednesday, there will be a decision by the Council of Ministers so that the new minimum wage will be implemented from April 1
His announcement is expected tomorrow, Wednesday, March 27 new minimum wage after Cabinet approval.
According to the prevailing scenario, the new minimum wage is expected to be set at 830 euros gross and to take effect from April 1st.
The minimum wage also affects 19 allowances that directly have a budgetary impact, either unemployment benefits or DYPA programs.
On Wednesday, March 27, there will be a decision of the Council of Ministers so that the new minimum wage will be implemented from April 1, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Domna Michailidou, said recently, speaking to ERTnews.
According to what the minister said, our proposal is the result of both the dialogue with the social bodies, i.e. representatives of the employers and the employees, as well as the suggestions of the scientific bodies such as the Bank of Greece, IOBE, KEPE. The final recommendation from KEPE was for an increase in the minimum wage of 4% to 5%. We also had proposals from smaller employers which were exactly at 3.5% but also proposals which reached for an increase of up to 12% and 13%, he said.
Our main concern – he emphasized – is the support of the workforce especially now in view of the summer and summer and tourist season when we want wages to be higher and the disposable income of households to be able to cover the wave of punctuality. On the other hand, our economy can be kept in an internationally competitive framework. Let me also remind you that the minimum wage affects 19 benefits, among which the unemployment benefit, but also the active employment programs of DYPA, Mrs. Michailidou concluded.
