After the deep crisis of the pandemic, the British Museum in London upped the ante on the certificate of authenticity market for NFT digital products, or non-fungible tokens, the new frontier in the arts market associated with blockchain technology.
Until March 4, the institution puts up for sale 20 NFTs representing watercolors by the British painter William Turner.
The debut in the new digital market was at the end of last year, when the British Museum sold 200 NFTs by the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, including the work “The Great Wave off Kanagawa”.
Sales are made in partnership with the French startup LaCollection. The museum will receive royalties and keep one edition of each version.
