A group of businessmen who advocate the return of daylight saving time, but failed to advance the agenda during the Bolsonaro government, are pressing to include the issue in this year’s electoral debate.
One of the flag’s leaders, Fabio Aguayo, president of CNTur, an association for the tourism sector, says that the election will be taken to candidates for state governments and the presidency shortly after Carnival.
Aguayo is one of the supporters of the candidacy of former judge Sergio Moro (Podemos).
“I think that, this year, it will be one of the agendas of discussion for presidential candidates and governor candidates, even more so with the climate situation in Brazil. We do not value these small details. , it says.
The summer time group, which has received support from bar and restaurant associations, argues that the measure would promote some energy savings. It would also make it possible to extend the operation of leisure-related activities and help the businesses most affected by the pandemic.
According to Aguayo, business in the tourism sector would support the candidate who defended turning the clock around. He complains that the Bolsonaro government has turned the issue into an ideological one, not a technical one.
Daylight saving time was abolished in 2019 by Bolsonaro, on the grounds that it no longer guaranteed great energy savings and caused inconvenience to workers.
