The inclusion in his Program NSRF “Environment and Climate Change 2021-2027” action “Construction of New Flood Protection Projects“, total budget 181 million eurosof which 124 million euros refer to co-financed expenditure, announced the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis.

In particular, flood protection projects are included in this action:

– in the municipalities of Loutraki- Perachora- Ag. Theodoron of the Attica Region,

– in the Municipality of Oreokastro of the PE of Thessaloniki,

– in Tamievtira Bramianou, Gra Lygia and Myrtos Dam in the PE of Lasithi, Crete, as well as

– in the Seaside Areas of Amvrakia- Amfilochia and Valtos of the PE of Etoloakarnania.

In the framework of the action, flood protection projects will be implemented, which concern stream and torrent settlement interventions, with the aim of preventing and dealing with flooding phenomena and natural disasters, in accordance with the Flood Risk Management Plans.

The study areas, which have been affected by catastrophic events (e.g. floods, fires, other severe meteorological phenomena) and due to man-made intervention (for example arbitrary construction), and due to the loss of forest areas, climate change, will also be protected against flooding. and the anarchic way of residential development, they become extremely vulnerable to the flood risk.

Beneficiaries of the action, which was approved by the Special Secretariat for the Management of ERDF & Cohesion Fund Programs of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, are the Directorate of Anti-Flood and Land Improvement Projects of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, as well as the Ephorates of Antiquities of Aetoloakarnania and Lefkada, Corinthia, Lefkada, Thessaloniki of the Ministry of Culture.

The operation was initially included in the Recovery and Resilience Fund and is being transferred to the NSRF for its safe implementation in time.
