The ‘player’ profile – Percentages by age – Which games of chance they prefer

More than 1/3 of Greeks are active and systematic gamblers according to a survey by Focus Bari.
One in three states in the survey that they gamble at least once a week. As expected, the percentage for men is 43%, while 24% for women is also sensational.
In terms of age, the 55+ are the most active with 40%, followed by the 35-44 age group with 34%.
If one wanted to outline the profile of the active gambler, one would say a man over 55 who lives in the countryside.
In fact, 52% say that they would bet more if it were easier. However, there is also a percentage of 40% who recognize that they should bet less.
81% of men state that they have played a game of chance at least once in the last 12 months, while for women the percentage is 74%.
Gambling is for all ages. He answers positively to the same question:
70% in the ages of 18-24
77% in the 25-34 age group
83% in the 35-44 age group
79% in the 45-54 age group
And 76% for those 55+
The favorite game of Greek players is the Joker as 56% state that they threw a ticket at least once in the last year. Qualitative evidence shows that it is preferred by men over 35 years of age. They are as follows:

Almost two-thirds, 63%, consider that the safety net for players is insufficient and call for more initiatives from the government at a regulatory level. 1/4 say gambling should be banned.
According to the figures recently announced by the Gaming Supervision and Control Commission, we bet approximately €120.55m/day, as bets across the gaming market amounted to €10.85bn in the first quarter of the year (including winnings, bonuses and amounts replayed) increased by 11.5% compared to the corresponding period last year. In total, in 2023 we “dedicated” to Goddess Fortune €36 billion, at this rate we will surpass it this year.
The research of FOCUS BARI was done with the method of online interviews through the YouGov panel, in a representative sample of 1001 adult men and women from all over Greece. The survey was conducted between April 24-29.
