Ukraine brewery stops producing beer to make Molotov cocktail

by

In an industrial zone in Lviv, the main city in western Ukraine, workers at a brewery stopped making drinks and now produce Molotov cocktails to be used against the Russian army.

“We should wait for the cloth to be well soaked. When it gets to the point, the Molotov cocktail is ready”, explains a young employee dressed in a red coat and cap, smiling, as he pushes the cloth to the bottom of the bottle, filled with a mixture of oil and gasoline.

At the same time, at his side, two other employees repeat the same gesture, in a relaxed atmosphere.

Molotov cocktails that are ready are placed on boards to protect them from falling snowflakes.

Faced with the fear of the arrival of Russian tanks in Lviv, a stronghold of Ukrainian identity, these street weapons seem derisory, but Yuri Zastavny takes their manufacture very seriously.

Founded in 2014, Pravda is a well-known company in the city, where it has already been talked about after naming Putin Huilo (an insult to the Russian president) to one of its best-known beers.

On Saturday (26), its employees started making Molotov cocktails, intended for Ukrainian territorial defense. On the same day, the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, had called for resistance and directed people to throw Molotov cocktails at the invaders.

The checkpoints are already very well equipped at the entrance to this city of 720,000 inhabitants, where police, military and volunteers strictly control the passage of all vehicles.

The brewery indicated on its social media, on Sunday (27), that it had opened its stores to serve as an underground shelter in case of an air alert.

The forecast is that they will continue making Molotov cocktails. “We must do everything possible to help win this war,” says Zastavny.
