With the existing flow of submitting tax returns, the process can be completed by the deadline of July 26, Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Christos Dimas said from the floor of the Parliament, while calling on those citizens “who have not yet submitted the tax return to hurry to they are doing it”.

Answering topical questions from SYRIZA MPs, N. Pappa and Hellenic Solution St. Fotopoulos, who requested an extension due to failures in the pre-filled declarations, Mr. Dimas noted that until yesterday (July 18) 5,309,978 individual income declarations had been submitted electronically and that 260,280 submissions remain in temporary submission Q1: This means that it is built to a very large extent so almost ready to be submitted, said Mr. Dimas.

SYRIZA MP N. Pappas called the process of pre-filled declarations a “fiasco”, noting that in order to meet the July 26 deadline, 200,000 declarations must be submitted per day, which means that “there is no time” and that an extension is required .

Mr. Fotopoulos said that the accountants are not “paratasaks” as some accuse them: What they are asking for is compliance with the law, which provides for a five-month period for submitting tax returns, and not three months as imposed by the government.

Responding, Mr. Dimas emphasized that the pre-filled tax returns are a very important leap forward, and that the government, with the constant cooperation of AADE, accountants, tax experts and other people in the market, corrects any errors and omissions are observed.

As for the rate of submission of statements, he said that there is not a good relation of the questioners to the mathematics, since, in addition to the 260,280 statements that are in temporary submission, the rate of submission “is a little over 140,000 daily. “So it is very important that our fellow citizens, who have not submitted their tax returns, should be able to do so immediately,” concluded Mr. Dimas.
