Analytically:
An increase of 15.8% was recorded in May this year by the turnover of the country’s businesses that provide accommodation, and amounted to 806,935,197 euros, compared to 697,093,343 euros in May 2023.
Also according to ELSTAT, in catering services businesses, the turnover in May 2024 amounted to 247,129,448 euros, marking an increase of 11.8% compared to May 2023, where it had risen to 221,026,505 euros.
Cumulatively for businesses in the accommodation and catering services sectors, with an obligation to keep double-entry books and for which data are available on a monthly basis, the turnover in May 2024 amounted to 1,054,064,645 euros, marking an increase of 14.8% in relation to with May 2023, where it had risen to 918,119,848 euros.
For the Regional Units with a contribution to the total turnover in 2023 greater than 1%, the largest increase in turnover was observed in the Regional Unit of Heraklion (24.5%) and the smallest increase (3.8%) was recorded in the Regional Unit of Achaia.
