The mansion considered by experts to be “the most expensive in Brazil” has a new owner. Located in Jardim Pernambuco, in Leblon, in the south of Rio de Janeiro, the house is in the center of a plot of 11,200 square meters. It has a parking lot for 16 cars, five rooms, twenty bathrooms, a helipad, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, a sauna, a barbecue area, a music room and an elevator.

With almost eight thousand square meters, it has eight bedrooms and six suites, as well as views of Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas and Christ the Redeemer. It was purchased by the Mozak construction company, a luxury developer in the city. The land belonged to the Amaral family, former owners of the Disco supermarket chain, who built the mansion in 1986.

Despite being announced for R$220 million, the final sale price was not revealed. However, according to the broker responsible for the sale, the contract was basically for this price. There was no shortage of interested parties (or those curious to see the details of the mansion).

“The owner has lived outside of Brazil for years. I was committed to selling the house for two and a half years and, during that period, I presented the house to 27 candidates, including families and developers”, says Paulo Cézar Ximenes, from Sérgio Castro Imóveis, F5.

According to him, the new owners’ plan for the site is to build a condominium of houses, divided into ten lots. “One of the lots is the lot where the mansion is located. The residence must be preserved and can be resold if someone is interested in it,” he says.
