After the intense summer period that boosted demand for air conditioning, the refrigeration market expects new pressure on prices due to the war in Ukraine.
According to Abrava (an association that represents the entire chain), the sector is concerned with the cost of products such as steel, copper and aluminum, used in manufacturing.
“A cost increase due to this conflict can mean a complicated situation for the sector”, says Matheus Lemes, from Abrava.
The association rules out the possibility of missing appliances, because the air conditioning industry had already been working with higher stock levels to prevent the break in the supply chain caused by the pandemic.
“As December had a mild summer, industry and commerce are highly stocked and with full capacity to meet the demand of this moment of peak heat”, says Lemes.
