Panel SA: Private hospitals close beds for Covid

by

Private hospitals began closing beds for Covid patients after the explosion of cases earlier this year, caused by the advancement of the omicron variant.

Albert Einstein saw demand plummet within a month. At the beginning of February, there were 213 beds for 175 patients with Covid. On Friday (4), there were 97 beds, with 38 hospitalized.

In the first half of January, the hospital doubled the number of beds to monitor the entry of new patients.

The Sírio-Libanês has 17 people hospitalized, 8 of them in the ICU. In early February, there were 91, and in January, 54, according to the hospital.

Rede D’Or São Luiz also reduced. Last month, there were 1,027, compared to 1,106 in January. So far, in March, the network’s hospitals have just over 460 beds for patients with Covid.

Unimed says it registers a drop in demand for beds and care related to respiratory syndromes in emergency care. “Our structure remains in a state of attention to monitor how demand will evolve after the Carnival period and with the proximity of the respiratory infection season, which begins in the months of March and April”, says the company.
