The so-called “dynamic”, orange tariffs will be available to electricity consumers from October.

The orange tariff will cost the kilowatt hour hour by hour within 24 hours and will give consumers the opportunity to “schedule” the use of their electrical appliances during the hours when the charge is lower.

Essentially, orange tariffs are useful for consumers who can be flexible with household chores such as washing clothes and dishes, cooking, etc. and move them to the low-rate zone, from 11 am to 4 pm, or those who have a person at home at those times.

As the energy inspector Michalis Christodoulidis explained to SKAI, a necessary condition for anyone interested in entering the dynamic tariff is to have installed the “smart” electricity meter.

Also, the orange tariff measure, according to Mr Christodoulidis, will be more useful to commercial and industrial consumers, who will be able to make savings by adjusting production lines or energy-intensive appliances during off-peak hours.
