According to the new decision the compensation per head in the highest category for female animals, from €150 rises to €250 and to €500 for males
Significant aid to livestock farmers whose animals were affected by the plague and smallpox as well as to the apple growers of Agia who were affected by Daniel, announced the Minister of Rural Development and Food Kostas Tsiaras, in meetings he had with representatives of cooperatives.
In particular, in a meeting he had with the Federation of Goat and Sheep Breeders of Thessaly, he announced that, with the approval of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, a new decree is being issued, according to which the amount of compensation per animal killed during the plague of small ruminants is being revised.
According to the new decision, the compensation per head in the highest category for female animals rises from €150 to €250 and to €500 for males. At the same time, there will also be a support program for breeders to replace the animals that were killed free of charge.
It is estimated that more than 44,000 animals have been killed in our country due to plague and smallpox.
Mr. Tsiaras also met with representatives of the Federation of Pig Breeders of Greece. The representatives of the Federation asked for the acceleration of the procedures concerning the well-being and biosecurity programs. Mr. Tsiaras stated that every possibility is being exhausted to overcome chronic pathologies in OPEKEPE, so that they can “run” similar programs.
In another meeting he had with the Apple Growers’ Cooperatives of Agia, the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Kostas Tsiaras, announced that the productive crops which, due to Daniel, could not be harvested, will be strengthened through Deminimis. Relevant announcements will be made after recording the crops in which a problem was observed.
The Minister of Rural Development and Food had a meeting with the Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas, but also with the Secretary of Decentralized Kostas Tzanakoulis.
The meetings were attended by the Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Food Christos Kellas, the Secretary General of the FSA Giorgos Stratakos and the president of ELGA Andreas Lykourentzos
