The executives of the Fund characterize 2024 as a “milestone year” for TAIPED, as it recorded the best performance in its history with revenues of more than 4 billion euros.
As a result, TAIPED since its establishment in 2011 to date has completed a total of more than 60 projects, with a total revenue for the public funds of more than 13 billion euros from the exploitation of assets.
At the same time, by the end of the year, the project for the sub-concession of the “Filippos II” Commercial Port to the Kavala Port Authority, worth 33.9 million euros, is expected to be completed. In addition to the price, the sub-concessionaire will implement investments of 36 million euros for the further development of the port.
In addition, within the next three weeks the contract will be signed with LAMDA MARINAS for the creation of a Marina for Large Yachts in the port of Corfu. The total benefit of the project will exceed 89 million euros for the entire 40 years of the concession, as, apart from the one-off price, the investments for the construction and development of the Marina from scratch are expected to exceed 50 million euros.
The main projects
To make 2024 a “milestone year”, a catalytic role was played by the completion of the Attica Road concession for a total one-time price of 3.27 billion euros, which, at the same time, reduced the public debt by approximately 1.5% of GDP. The State will collect at least 9.3% of the concessionaire’s annual gross revenues of all kinds.
While, apart from the financial consideration from the new Attica Road concession contract, 785 million euros have been collected this year from the listing of Athens International Airport (IAA) on the Stock Exchange80 million euros from disposal of a majority share of the Port Authority of Heraklion– 50% of which will be attributed to the “Special Port Infrastructure Development Account” – and 1.5 million euros as a minimum from the concession of Pylos marina for 40 years.
In addition, the Fund collected more than 10 million euros from utilization of real estate in Antirrio and Sani, Halkidikiwhile the payment of 29.5 million euros is expected in the coming months after the completion of the tender procedures for the utilization of the properties in Agia Triada, Thessaloniki, and in Koniavitis, Fthiotida.
It is noted that in 2021 the role of TAIPED was expanded with the establishment of the Strategic Contracts Unit (PPF), to which the State has entrusted the maturation and tendering of projects of strategic importance, amounting to more than 8 billion euros, which are mainly financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund.
Overall, since its establishment until October this year, the PPF has prepared and conducted a large number of competitions.
In particular:
- 74 tenders have been completed and projects worth 102.4 million euros have been delivered.
- 292 contracts worth 983.5 million euros have been signed.
- 68 tenders worth 1.18 billion euros are in progress.
- In the maturation stage are 41 tender procedures with a budget of 465.9 million euros.
According to Fund officials, the tenders implemented by the Unit concern projects with a significant social, environmental and developmental footprint.
These include, among others, the development of Business Parks in the municipality of Fylis and the former Gonou Camp in Thessaloniki with concession contracts, the restoration of the static adequacy of the roof of the central stadium and the cycling track of the Athens Olympic Sports Center (OAKA – the relevant tender is awaited with a budget of over 60 million euros to start by the end of the year), the construction of the new urban promenade on the Athenian Riviera, the creation of the “Andreas Lentakis” Government Park, the upgrading of infrastructure in 80 Hospitals and more than 150 Health Centers , the AEGIS program to strengthen the Civil Protection mechanism, the Antinero programs to clear and protect large forest areas across the country and the National Reforestation Plan to restore critical forest ecosystems.
