“It is our priority to support producers and strengthen their ability to sell their products directly to citizens”
The Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos mentioned the meeting he was asked to have today (Monday) with the representatives of the supermarkets, answering a topical question on the matter in the Parliament. “We demanded the extension of the time period with the reduced prices, the increase in the number of products beyond the 600 codes, and an obvious way of marking the products with a reduced price for the convenience of consumers,” he underlined.
In this context, he clarified that the additional control measures will continue for the next period as well as the ongoing controls.
“We are in favor of many possibilities and increasing competition to de-escalate prices. It is the government’s choice to strengthen the participation of producers in the public markets and the access of citizens directly to producers”, the Minister of Development also emphasized.
“It is our priority to support producers and strengthen their ability to sell their products directly to citizens. It is a firm choice and it will be implemented, how exactly will we see it” characteristically said Mr. Theodorikakos and pointed out that the dialogue on the matter is ongoing.
