With 102.5 million euro are funded in total 151 investment plans manufacturing SMEs of the program “Smart Manufacturing” of the Ministry of Development. According to the relevant announcement, this action is part of the productive transformation of the Greek economy, in the context of the strategy of the green and digital transition, according to the announcements of the Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakoutogether with the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on October 21.

Approved investment projects will receive from 250,000 euros to 6,000,000 euros to strengthen their technological infrastructure and upgrade their production equipment using smart cutting-edge technologies with low environmental impact.

The action is aimed at very small, small and medium enterprises in the Manufacturing and Industrial sector of the economy. The decision on the results and the final ranking tables was signed, after the objections process, by the Deputy Minister of Development, responsible for Industry matters Anna-Mani Papadimitriou and the General Secretary of Industry Vicky Loizou.

“Smart Manufacturing” is focused on the adaptation of the Greek small and medium-sized enterprises of the Greek industrial ecosystem to the “Industry 4.0” production model and aims to accelerate the industrial transition through the digital transformation of business and production operations to create modern and competitive manufacturing enterprises.

The technologies included in the production model “Industry 4.0” allow, among other things, the digital transformation and automation of production lines, direct communication between devices using wired and wireless communication channels, as well as the production of prototypes and customized products incorporating high technology.

The investment projects being strengthened aim to improve the resilience of manufacturing SMEs through the upgrade of digital management and production control systems, the supply of advanced and digitally controlled industrial equipment, the digitization of interconnection systems throughout the supply chain and the production of systems and technology that support digital transformation.

It should be emphasized that the action is implemented by the General Secretariat of Industry of the Ministry of Development in cooperation with the Economic Chamber of Greece and the Technical Chamber of Greece.
