“In the first ten days of December we will have the picture of the amount of the subsidy, as it will depend on the tariffs of the providers” said the Minister of the Environment
“The goal is that there are no increases in electricity tariffs. The target for the cost of the kilowatt hour that will be charged to consumers is fixed,” the Minister of Environment and Energy told ANT1, regarding subsidies to consumers for electricity bills.
As Thodoros Skylakakis pointed out, “the benefit for consumers and the amount of the subsidy will depend on the policy and tariffs of the providers”.
At the same time, he announced that there will be a “subsidy on household electricity tariffs and in this phase we will certainly have intervention for small and medium enterprises“, noting that “they will be announced in December”.
The Minister of Environment and Energy also stated: “The first ten days of December we will have the picture for it height of the subsidy, as it will depend on the providers’ tariffs. However, certainly what is happening in the wholesale market will not affect consumers as it has been happening so far.”
Changes to the nightly tariff
Regarding the replacement of the reduced night electricity by a reduced tariff during the midday hours, when energy produced from renewable sources “enters” the system and has a lower cost, Thodoros Skylakakis emphasized that “Due to the unrest we have been postponing announcements until now. At the beginning of December we will make announcements about to start from January 1 or February 1 the change of the night tariff with the noon tariff».
In fact, he actually announced that the discount will not be completely “lost” at night, telling Giorgos Papadakis that “we may do a mixed move that may have some night hours and some midday hours. Compared to a simple invoice, this invoice will enable one to make savings. It will also be valid on the weekend, but not at all times, because e.g. in the evenings from 18:00 to 22:00 the prices go up a lot because the natural gas “enters” the system for the production of electricity.
Asked about the heating allowancefor which beneficiary applications have reached close to one million, Mr. Skylakakis said that “we will see with the financial staff if an extension will be granted for the applications, because any extension will also delay the payment of the advance”.
However, he noted that “All beneficiaries will receive an advance payment. Because we have three installments, everyone will get the allowance they are entitled to”, while he emphasized that vulnerable households, which are about 1 million, are exempt from this allowance, as for them “we have ensured permanent low prices for electricity, for whatever reason if they consume it”.
